TAIPEI, Dec. 19, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Established in 1992, MEET International Ltd (MEET stands for Multi-function Electrical Electronic Tester) is one of the leading manufacturers of multi-function testers worldwide. Driving innovation in multifunction testers For the past 70 years, bulky and heavy clamp or open jaw meters have been used to measure current on wires that must be separated, that is, on live or neutral wires or between live wires. As shown in Figure 1, on a single core wire, the AC current flows toward the left-hand side (1) and creates a magnetic field (1a) in a clockwise direction. The existing conventional type of clamp meter with laminated iron core (3) wound around hundreds of turns of enameled wires (4) formed a secondary pick up of magnetic current, which flows from one direction of the cable (1), and thus generates a small amount of millivolt supply to the electronic circuit of the clamp meter. The results (5) show the load current flow in a single core wire. Alternatively, when the clamp meter is placed on the opposite side of the return wire from the load, the current flows back to the supply (2) and generates a counterclockwise magnetic field. "Whatever the measuring method used, we have to split and measure on a single-core wire only, not on a cable with two or more cores twisted together," says Mr. Chou Kai-Sheng, Director of MEET, during an interview with EE Times Asia. This is shown in Figure 2. The reason is the two different directions of current flows (1) and (2) generate the magnetic field: one clockwise (1a) and the other counterclockwise (2b). These two magnetic fields cancel each other out, and thus the induced voltage is transferred to 0 (6), which occasionally shows some reading based on leakage or unbalanced current. Additionally, measuring AC voltage on the cables with the non-contact method is also impossible. However, measuring on two-, three-, four-, or five-core cables even on shielded cables as well as on any length of cable has been impossible (Figure 2). Unlike the popular conventional-type clamp/open jaw meter, a revolutionary new generation of multifunction multi-core Non-Contact (NCCV) meter invented by MEET offers a unique solution to measure various data and collect information on single- or multi-core cables without separating the wires or restricting at the open side only (Figure 3). SEOUL, South Korea, Dec. 18, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Mobis (KRX 012330) announced on 18th that it has developed a new battery cell cooling material to prevent battery overheating during ultra-fast charging of electric vehicles. Hyundai Mobis aims to secure world-class battery cooling technology and commercialize it to enhance its competitiveness in the future mobility market. This material, referred to as the 'Pulsating Heat Pipe,' is composed of aluminum alloy and refrigerant and is placed between battery cells to lower the internal battery temperature that spikes during rapid charging. Even when battery heat generation increases during ultra-fast charging, it is expected to significantly reduce electric vehicle charging time by implementing a stable thermal management system capable of withstanding the heat. Heat pipes are metal-tube-shaped thermal conductors that enhance heat transfer efficiency between two objects and are high-heat-dissipation materials used for cooling electronic devices such as computer CPUs and smartphones. Specifically, pulsating heat pipes diffuse heat through the vibration and circulation of refrigerant internally, resulting in minimal performance degradation due to gravity even when applied to high-speed moving vehicles. With over ten times the heat transfer performance compared to standard aluminum, they rapidly move the heat from overheated battery cells to the exterior. Typically, battery systems (BSA) are constructed by adding battery management systems (BMS), cooling fans, and various electronic devices to multiple battery modules (BMA). BMA, which directly generates electrical energy, is a module-level component with multiple battery cells stacked, and optimizing the cooling structure to prevent battery cell overheating is critical. Hyundai Mobis successfully placed PHPs between each battery cell. They quickly transferred the heat generated in each cell to cooling blocks, thereby stably controlling the internal temperature at the module level. Hyundai Mobis applied a press process enabling large-scale continuous production in the manufacturing stage, simplifying the PHP manufacturing process and reducing production costs. Additionally, to facilitate mounting on vehicle batteries, it achieved PHPs with a thickness of only 0.8 mm, which is significantly thinner and has a larger area than standard heat pipes (approximately 6 mm). In industrial settings, users often misunderstand UV exposure, but it is in these settings that manufacturers have the most significant control over a worker's health and safety. Addressing Stray Light UV light-curing systems frequently have safety or engineering controls built into them. These controls, such as shielding, safety interlocks, intuitive design, and light-absorbing plastics, allow operators to use them without exposing themselves to harmful ultraviolet light. If the system employs a ZIP™ shutter, a radiometer can verify if it is closing completely so no stray light escapes. When the curtain is closed, it should measure zero UV intensity. It is vital to match the radiometer to the UV wavelength being measured. Employing Personal Protection Equipment Other ways to protect an operator from light exposure include shields, goggles, glasses, face shields, gloves, and long sleeves. Manual (3-sided) and electric Light Shields for flood-curing lamps can offer users 360° eye and skin protection from ultraviolet and visible light while allowing clear visibility of curing parts. However, wearing UV light-blocking safety glasses or goggles is still necessary as an extra precaution against stray light or accidental exposure. Anyone who can visually see the light should wear UV eye protection when utilizing any broad-spectrum or LED curing system because both systems generate light in the UV-A wavelength range.
