NEW YORK, Sept. 13, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- After defying market volatilities and achieving outsized returns in 2022, Hi2 Investment Management LLC (Hi2 Cayman Fund SPC - Series B SP) has been selected as the winner of Best Overall Credit Fund category by the users of Hedgeweek and Private Equity Wire. Powered by Hedgeweek, a leading information provider for the hedge fund community, and with fund manager data provided by Bloomberg, the Award rewards fund performance and service provider excellence within hedge fund emerging managers. Winners are recommended by Bloomberg based on 2022 Calendar Year fund performance and voted by the hedge fund community. 7,800 votes were cast in total with 39% of those coming from Managers, 22% Allocators and 39% from Service Providers. Hi2 Global Private Credit Fund invests in global private credit strategies, including consumer installment loans, auto inventory backed loans, and short-term cash loans, providing a long-term and diversified fixed income portfolio. In 2022, extremely high prices and an overall strong economy led the Federal Reserve to take drastic measures, implementing a rapid succession of rate increases unseen since the early 1980s. Despite the market downturn, the Fund was able to successfully achieve favorable returns given its niche focus on high growth consumer sectors in emerging markets. This is achieved through the strategy of catching the tailwind of high technology penetration levels in emerging markets in Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. According to Jerry Wang, Founder and CEO of Hi2 Global, "The Fund structures notes to protect our investments, which contributes to consistent returns for our investors." Despite volatilities in the stock market, redemptions reducing liquidity, pressure in the private credit market and investors seeking risk premium, the Fund's capital flow turned positive by the end of 2022 and AUM has been on a steady increase in 2023. The Fund is backed by collateral, guarantee and subordination structure, and provides stable yield, high liquidity and low correlation with traditional asset classes. In addition to its focus on high-yield, low risk returns, Hi2 Global is committed to seeking investment opportunities with embedded ESG themes, such as financial inclusion, sustainable consumption, healthcare innovation and environmental protection. As a firm focused on financial inclusion in emerging markets, Hi2 Global is a proud signatory of the Principles of Responsible Investment (PRI). "We believe in the power of financial inclusion to promote social inclusion and mobility," said Wang. "Through our direct lending programs, we lend to Small Business Owners, especially those with female founders and those that enable job creation in low-income communities." Hi2 Global adheres to the Principles of Responsible Investment and is committed to long-term social and environmental impacts. Heading into the last quarter of 2023, the Fund aims to continuously seek long-term high returns opportunities that benefit investors, the environment and the global economy. With capital consistently flowing into the emerging market consumer credit sector, the Fund will tap into growing opportunities in markets such as Egypt, Pakistan, and Colombia to diversity geopolitical risk. According to Wang, the Fund is also looking into expanding into other business models such as factoring and payroll bank lending to diversify its investments and reduce risk. Looking forward, the firm plans to continue investing in its team, technology, as well as building up its back office in risk management and compliance. The Fund will continue its focus on consumer credit while promoting financial inclusion in emerging markets.

2023 Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards Winner Announcement! Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (TSAA) are to recognize “excellence in sustainability action across a variety of industries to promote the UN’s Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs).” For the 3rd TSAA in 2023, we received 321 submissions from 185 organizations, including corporates, universities, hospitals, government agencies and NGOs. 279 projects were awarded. On July 21, TAISE honors those who won the award at the 2023 SDGs Asia Summit in Taipei. According to the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards Executive Committee, 100 judges for the TSAA, which are experts from industry and academia, evaluated all submitted cases for their performance and case studies that could demonstrate excellence in achieving sustainable development. To recognize those indispensable practices to SDGs, 5 distinction awards, 95 gold awards, 96 silver awards, and 83 bronze awards were selected. The judges commented that this year organizations improved the overall performance across SDGs, compared with the previous year’s outcomes. They anticipated that through efforts and corporations, we will be able to make our living more sustainable for future generations. Furthermore, Eugene Chien, Chairman of TAISE, said that although the United Nations launched the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015 to build a global partnership for sustainable development, Taiwan made a late start. However, in the TSAA selection process, he was moved by observing many organizations across different industries that have proposed their action plans to reach sustainability and have yielded good results. He expected to promote the TSAA and 2023 SDGs Asia Summit to spur positive influence in the nation and the globe. 2023 Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards Winner Announcement was published simultaneously on Taiwan’s Commercial Times on July 15, 2023. Gomes stood out among the 15 sustainability-minded young chefs that won the prize in their respective regions, winning the global title with his "Vale das Lobas" celeriac' signature dish. "I am honoured to have received this recognition that is so important to me," said Gomes. "Social responsibility should be a collective commitment that goes beyond our restaurant. With my dish I wanted to show how sustainability should start from our communities, our artisans and the region. My hope is that through sustainable constructions, regenerative farming, and resource management we aren't only regenerating this land but also this community." Juliane Caillouette Noble at The Sustainable Restaurant Association added, "We're proud to assign this edition's Award to Artur Gomes. Providing a picture of Portugal's rural northern landscape, the dish not only champions hyper-local ingredients, but also showcases regenerative agricultural processes that are being introduced with soil health and climate in mind. Artur understands that social responsibility must go hand in hand with financial and environmental responsibility, if restaurants are to continue to attract the best young talent and provide an inspiring and positive work environment." To nurture the talent of young chefs, the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy recently provided all regional finalists with the opportunity to participate in a series of inspiring workshops to explore the most relevant topics for the industry. During '360° sustainability', young chefs competing for the S.Pellegrino Social Responsibility Award, moderated by Tom Jenkins, Fine Dining Lovers journalist and Academy spokesperson, had the chance to engage in insightful discussions with esteemed members of the international chef community, including Kamilla Seidler, Jeffrey Vella, Suzanne Barr, and Daniel Gottschlich, as well as Molly McDonald and Isabel Martin from the Sustainable Restaurant Association. Together, they explored approaches to sustainability, encompassing both environmental and human aspects, and discussed effective ways to communicate these values to guests, with Tom Jenkins highlighting as key messages: "While environmental sustainability is of course a hot topic, what engaged guests the most across these workshops was the issue of human sustainability and creating a better, fairer and safer industry for all. Many senior chefs discussed the changes they've made to their teams' working practices and how they've adjusted their business models, whilst our young chefs emphasised just how important work-life balance is now to their generation. All agree: a happy team equals a happy restaurant." To learn more about the initiative please visit: www.sanpellegrinoyoungchefacademy.com. In 2015, the United Nations launched the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and announced 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets, aiming to achieve sustainable development in a balanced and integrated manner by 2030. Around the world, many organizations have integrated SDGs into their organizational culture and have adopted innovative strategies to implement sustainability over the past years. In Taiwan, the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards (APSAA) are awarded in three categories: Sustainability Action Award, Livable and Sustainable City Award, and Outstanding Chief Sustainability Officer Award to recognize outstanding achievements in the SDGs. In 2023, the 2nd APSAA committee received 79 submissions to be considered for 68 awards, including 17 gold awards, 28 silver awards, and 23 bronze awards. This year, those organizations that received the Sustainability Action Award demonstrated evidence that their sustainability action projects have impacted society. In the Livable and Sustainable City Award category, five cities were awarded for presenting social inclusion, safety, resilience and sustainable quality, reflecting on policy implementations of the local governments. The Outstanding Chief Sustainability Officer recipients have combined their professions and the Environmental, Social and Governance practices to improve the performances of their organizations toward sustainability. Eugene Chien, Chairman of TAISE, expressed that the Taiwanese corporates, universities, hospitals, and government agencies have already integrated SDGs into their organizational operation plans and sustainability strategies, and they further set up implementation actions and performance indicators to carry out their sustainability practices. He deeply felt that the outcomes of these case studies were very impressive. He also thanked the board of 32 judges for reviewing all submitted cases and making nominations in each award category.
