FDI World Dental Federation releases powerful video message unifying voices in celebration of World Oral Health Day

In celebration of World Oral Health Day, FDI World Dental Federation debuts an impactful video message uniting voices from diverse sectors, advocating for collective efforts to improve oral health worldwide. GENEVA, March 20, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- "A Happy Mouth is a Happy Body," says FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) this World Oral Health Day (WOHD). This powerful message resonates with leaders from governments, organizations representing other chronic health conditions, and the private sector who have united to lend their voice to a new video released today. The collaborative initiative underscores the urgent need for collective action to ensure universal access to oral health, which is crucial for securing the overall health and well-being of people worldwide. "We say that a happy mouth is essential for a happy body because the two are intricately connected and mutually influence each other. Understanding this connection is vital to improve the quality of life for countless people around the world," explains FDI President Dr Greg Chadwick. In fact, good oral health is critical to breathing, eating, speaking, and smiling. When oral disease is left untreated, it can severely impact a person's health and social prospects. Moreover, maintaining good oral health may contribute to preventing other conditions such as heart and respiratory diseases, cancer, and diabetes. Regrettably, oral diseases currently rank as the most prevalent health conditions globally, affecting nearly 3.5 billion people, including those suffering from tooth decay, severe gum disease, tooth loss, and oral cancer, according to estimates from the World Health Organization (WHO). Raising awareness through WOHD about the importance of avoiding risk factors such as foods high in sugars, regular brushing with a fluoride toothpaste and dental check-ups, is crucial to empowering people with good oral health habits. However, with the burden of oral diseases remaining unacceptably high, "It's clear that no single entity can effectively tackle oral health issues alone," emphasizes Dr Anna Lella, WOHD Working Group Chair. "This is why FDI has made it its mission to catalyze partnerships, networks, policies, and programmes to advance oral health as an essential component of overall health and well-being," she continues. By working with organizations like NCD Alliance, World Heart Federation, International Diabetes Federation, and the International Pharmaceutical Federation, among others, FDI advocates for collaboration across health conditions and professions, to safeguard people's health. By mobilizing its members and partnering with industry leaders like WOHD Partners Denstply Sirona, 3M Health Care, Smile Train, and Haleon, FDI strives to shape the future of oral health by promoting prevention, early detection, and treatment of oral diseases. Public, private partnerships as well as sustained political commitment by governments, such as Ireland, are key to achieving equitable access to quality oral healthcare and general health and well-being for all.  "Effective collaboration across sectors and stakeholders is imperative to achieve universal coverage for oral health. We must work together to eliminate disparities so that by 2030, oral health becomes a universally accessible right," stresses Dr Chadwick. This video serves as a call to action for collaborative efforts in oral health: Together, we can improve lives worldwide. Antengene Publishes Preclinical Paper on PD-L1/4-1BB Bispecific Antibody ATG-101 in Renowned Oncology Journal Cancer Research

SHANGHAI and HONG KONG, March 20, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Antengene Corporation Limited ("Antengene" SEHK: 6996.HK), a leading innovative, commercial-stage global biopharmaceutical company dedicated to discovering, developing and commercializing first-in-class and/or best-in-class therapeutics in hematology and oncology, today announced that results of its preclinical studies on ATG-101 (PD-L1/4-1BB bispecific antibody) were published in Cancer Research in a paper titled ATG-101 is a tetravalent PD-L1×4-1BB bispecific antibody that stimulates anti-tumor immunity through PD-L1 blockade and PD-L1-directed 4-1BB activation[1]. Cancer Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), publishes impactful original studies, reviews, and opinion pieces of high significance to the broad cancer research community. It has a 5-year impact factor of 13. "Although immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have transformed cancer treatment, many patients do not achieve desired treatment outcomes due to innate or acquired resistance," said Dr. Bing Hou, Antengene's Head of Discovery Science & Translational Medicine, and the corresponding author of the paper. "While 4-1BB has been recognized as a powerful immune stimulating target, the development of therapeutic 4-1BB agonists has been hampered by hepatotoxicity and suboptimal efficacy. In the Cancer Research paper, we present studies used to characterize the differentiated preclinical features and mechanism of action of ATG-101, a tetravalent PD-L1/4-1BB bispecific antibody. ATG-101 activates 4-1BB+ T cells in a PD-L1-crosslinking dependent manner, which minimizes the hepatotoxicity associated with existing 4-1BB agonists and suppresses the growth of ICI-resistant tumors. We wish to continue contributing to the academic community through publications in the future." "The dedication and relentless efforts of our research team have led to the publication of the preclinical work in the prestigious journal Cancer Research and the development of a new clinical program," said Dr. Jay Mei, Antengene's Founder, Chairman and CEO." The Phase I study of ATG-101 is currently in the sixth dose escalation cohort and the drug is approaching its biologically active dose with good tolerability. Early observations indicate that a partial response has been observed in a patient with microsatellite stable (MSS) metastatic colon adenocarcinoma with liver metastasis. Moreover, there have also been multiple patients with durable stable disease. These early observations are indeed very encouraging. Moving forward, we will continue working closely with the study sites and investigators to bring a new treatment option to patients who have previously relapsed/progressed on ICIs." About ATG-101 ATG-101 is a novel PD-L1/4-1BB bispecific antibody that was designed to block the binding of immunosuppressive PD-1/PD-L1 and conditionally induce 4-1BB stimulation, thus activating anti-tumor immune effectors, while delivering enhanced anti-tumor activity, with an improved safety profile. ATG-101 is currently being developed in Australia, China, and the U.S. in the Phase I study for the treatment of advanced/metastatic solid tumors and B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL). 300mm Fab Equipment Spending Forecast to Reach Record $137 Billion in 2027, SEMI Reports

MILPITAS, Calif., March 19, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Global 300mm fab equipment spending for front-end facilities is forecast to reach a record US$137 billion in 2027 after topping US$100 billion for the first time by 2025 on the strength of the memory market recovery and strong demand for high-performance computing and automotive applications, SEMI highlighted today in its quarterly 300mm Fab Outlook Report to 2027 report.  300mm_Fab Worldwide 300mm fab equipment investment is expected to increase 20% to US$116.5 billion in 2025 and 12% to US$130.5 billion in 2026 before hitting a record high in 2027. "Projections for the steepening ramp of 300mm fab equipment spending in the coming years reflects the production capacity needed to meet growing demand for electronics across a diverse range of markets as well as a new wave of applications spawned by artificial intelligence (AI) innovation," said Ajit Manocha, SEMI President and CEO. "The newest SEMI report also highlights the critical importance of increases in government investments in semiconductor manufacturing to bolster economies and security worldwide. This trend is expected to help significantly narrow the equipment spending gap between re-emerging and emerging regions and the historical top-spending regions in Asia." Regional Growth The SEMI 300mm Fab Outlook to 2027 report shows China continuing to lead fab equipment spending with US$30 billion in investments in each of the next four years fueled by government incentives and domestic self-sufficiency policies. Supported by leading-edge nodes expansion for high-performance computing (HPC) and the memory market recovery, Taiwanese and Korean chip suppliers are increasing their equipment investments. Taiwan is expected to rank second in equipment spending at US$28 billion in 2027, up from US$20.3 billion in 2024, while Korea is expected to rank third at US$26.3 billion in 2027, an increase from US$19.5 billion this year.  The Americas is projected to double 300mm fab equipment investments from US$12 billion in 2024 to US$24.7 billion in 2027, while spending in Japan, Europe & the Middle East, and Southeast Asia are expected to reach US$11.4 billion, US$11.2 billion, and US$5.3 billion in 2027, respectively. Segment Growth Foundry segment spending is expected to decline 4% to US$56.6 billion this year due in part to the expected slowdown in mature nodes (>10nm) investment, though the segment continues to log the highest growth among all segments to meet market demand for generative AI, automotive and intelligent edge devices. The segment's equipment spending is forecast to post a 7.6% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) to US$79.1 billion from 2023 to 2027. Demand for greater data throughput, crucial for AI servers, is driving strong demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and spurring increased investment in memory technology. Among all segments, memory is ranked second and is expected to post US$79.1 billion in equipment investments in 2027, a 20% CAGR from 2023. DRAM equipment spending is expected to rise to US$25.2 billion in 2027, a 17.4% CAGR, while 3D NAND investment is projected to reach US$16.8 billion in 2027, a 29% CAGR. The Analog, Micro, Opto, and Discrete segments are projected to increase 300mm fab equipment investments to US$5.5 billion, US$4.3 billion, US$2.3 billion, and US$1.6 billion in 2027, respectively. The SEMI 300mm Fab Outlook Report to 2027 report lists 405 facilities and lines globally, including 75 high-probability facilities expected to start operation during the four years beginning in 2024. The report reflects 358 updates and 26 new fabs/lines project since its last publication in December 2023.
