CNOOC Limited Brings On-stream Dongfang 29-1 Gas Field Development Project

HONG KONG, Jan. 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- CNOOC Limited (the "Company", SEHK: 00883 (HKD Counter) and 80883 (RMB Counter), SSE: 600938) today announces that Dongfang 29-1 Gas Field Development Project has commenced production. The project is located in the Yinggehai Basin, with an average water depth of approximately 68 meters. The main production facilities include a new unmanned wellhead platform and a submarine pipeline. A total of 6 development wells are planned to be commissioned. The project is expected to achieve a peak production of 38 million cubic feet of natural gas per day in 2025. The new unmanned wellhead platform of the project is constructed in a standardized and integrated manner. The equipment layout has been optimized to make efficient use of platform space and significantly reduce project investment. The oil and gas produced will be connected to the existing facilities of Dongfang gas fields through the submarine pipeline for processing. In recent years, CNOOC Limited has been continually tapping the resource potentials of the Yinggehai-Qiongdongnan Basin, to fully utilize the existing production facilities and thereby reduce the development cost of new projects. The commissioning of Dongfang 29-1 will further release the production capacity of the Dongfang gas fields. PacificLight Power Awarded Right to Build New Hydrogen-Ready Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Plant

SINGAPORE, Jan. 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- PacificLight Power Pte Ltd (PLP) is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the right to build, own, and operate a hydrogen-ready Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) facility on Jurong Island by the Energy Market Authority (EMA). Scheduled to commence operations in January 2029, this will be the largest single, and most efficient, state-of-the-art H-class, CCGT in Singapore, with capacity of at least 600MW. The new plant will play a critical role in strengthening Singapore's energy security, enhancing grid stability and advancing the nation's transition towards a low-carbon future. The new plant will be in addition to PLP's existing 830MW CCGT facility, that has been operating since 2014, and 100MW of Fast Start capacity, that is currently under construction and due to commence operations in Q2 2025. The plant, to be built on a greenfield site, will include a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), fashioning the first CCGT unit integrated with BESS in Singapore. This underscores PLP's commitment to adopting cutting-edge solutions that enhance system stability while reducing operational costs and environmental impact. The plant will be capable of using at least 30% hydrogen at inception and will have the ability to burn 100% hydrogen in the future. The greenfield site on Jurong Island is sufficiently sized to accommodate a second CCGT unit as well as potential for future integration of Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) technology, reinforcing PLP's dedication to long-term decarbonisation strategies. Global Aluminium Industry Greenhouse Gas Emissions Intensity Reduction Continues, With Total Emissions Below 2020 Peak

Greenhouse gas emissions from global aluminium production increased by only 0.36% in 2023, while aluminium production grew by 2.75%. Total greenhouse gas emissions from the aluminium industry peaked in 2020. The latest data shows that aluminium production increased from 108.2 million tonnes in 2022 to 111.2 million tonnes in 2023. On the other hand, Greenhouse gas emissions remained essentially stable at 1,116 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent (CO2e), compared to 1,112 million tonnes in 2023. The emissions from each tonne of aluminium production referred to as 'emissions intensity', fell by 2.33% in 2023 and has fallen by 11.5% since 2020. IAI Secretary General Miles Prosser said: "The latest data reinforces our confidence that the industry has reached a turning point, with metal production growth successfully decoupled from emissions growth. As an industry, we must find ways to deliver emissions reductions faster, deeper and broader across the industry." The aluminium industry remains a key enabler for many sectors looking to reduce their carbon footprint, such as the generation and distribution of clean energy, the transition to electric vehicles and the uptake of sustainable and recyclable packaging for food and drink.
