CDP awards Electrolux Group ''A'' for climate leadership

Electrolux Group has once again been recognized for its leadership in corporate transparency and performance on climate change by global environment non-profit CDP, achieving an "A" score.  STOCKHOLM, Feb. 6, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Electrolux Group is one of a small number of companies that achieved an ''A'' – out of more than 21,000 companies scored. * This is the seventh time Electrolux Group has achieved an A score for the CDP Climate.  CDP's annual environmental disclosure and scoring process is a widely recognized measure of strong corporate environmental transparency. The NGO holds the largest environmental database in the world, and CDP scores are widely used to drive investment and procurement decisions towards a zero carbon, sustainable and resilient economy. In 2023, over 740 financial institutions with over US$ 136 trillion in assets requested companies to disclose data on environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through CDP's platform. "This is a fantastic achievement and recognition of everyone's efforts at Electrolux Group. We all contribute to reducing our climate impact through everything from using less energy in our operations, to designing and selling more efficient products to consumers. But we cannot do this alone, and we need to continue to partner throughout the value chain," says Elena Breda, Chief Technology & Sustainability Officer.  "Earning a place on the A List is about more than the score. It's an indication of high quality, complete data that equips companies with a holistic view of their environmental impact, serves as a baseline for transition plans and – crucially – enables them to follow through on their ambitions," says Sherry Madera, CEO of CDP.  Electrolux Group is continuing its work to tackle climate change and recently announced its second science-based climate target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in products and operations, in support of the Paris climate agreement. The new target, which comes after the Group achieved its previous science-based target three years ahead of plan, aims to reduce the company's direct and indirect emissions resulting from its own operations (scope 1 and 2) by 85% between 2021 and 2030 (a 97% reduction by 2030 compared to 2015). It also aims to reduce the Group's absolute scope 3 emissions (use of sold products, materials, transport of products and business travel) by 42% between 2021 and 2030.  CDP is an international non-profit that runs a global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts. Thousands of companies submit annual climate disclosures to CDP for independent assessment against its scoring methodology. CDP APPOINTS SHERRY MADERA AS CEO

SINGAPORE, July 20, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- CDP, the global non-profit that runs the world's environmental disclosure system for companies, cities, states and regions, has appointed Sherry Madera as its new Chief Executive Officer. Ms Madera is currently SVP of Public Policy at Mastercard and Chair of the Future of Sustainable Data Alliance (FoSDA), a global organization focused on supporting data requirements to drive success in sustainable finance. She will begin her role as CEO at CDP on 1st October 2023. Ms Madera brings a unique mix of experience from business, policy making, and diplomacy that will equip her to successfully lead CDP into an exciting new era of environmental leadership. Over 20 years ago, CDP pioneered using capital markets to encourage companies to voluntarily disclose their environmental impact, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard water resources, and protect forests; creating the first global system for environmental disclosure. Today, the data gathered by CDP is fundamental to climate action, enabling companies, governments, and regulators worldwide to successfully set and meet climate commitments. In 2022 over 18,700 companies representing around 50% of global market capitalization and over 1,100 cities, states and regions disclosed information through CDP on climate change, deforestation, and water security at the request of more than 740 financial institutions and 280 major purchasers. The 2023 disclosure period is due to close at the end of July for scoring. Katherine Garrett-Cox, Chair of CDP Trustees, said: "We're excited for Sherry to join us as our new Chief Executive in October. Her breadth of experience across business, policy making, and diplomacy and her conviction about the importance of data as a fundamental driver of climate action positions her perfectly for the next phase of CDP's growth. "CDP partnered in its search for a new CEO with Executive Search company, Odgers Berndtson, who provided a diverse and global shortlist. It was truly wonderful to see how attractive CDP is as an employer in the market and the calibre of candidates attracted by this opportunity. "We would also like to thank Jamie Neil, who as interim CEO has led a programme of significant operational improvement within CDP that will help set us up for future scale and success." Sherry Madera said: "I'm honoured to be joining CDP as data is recognised for its critical importance in measuring and managing climate actions. The scale of the climate and nature crises means CDP's work is more urgent than ever.  Without data we are blind in the fight against climate change and CDP's pioneering role has become mainstream and essential to stakeholders including governments and regulators. I'm looking forward to working with a talented global team to build on our unique position in the climate data ecosystem to help define global policy and drive corporate action on climate change" Paul Dickinson, Founder and Chair of CDP, said; "I'm delighted that Sherry will be joining CDP as CEO. Ms Madera succeeds former CEO Paul Simpson, who was a co-founder of CDP and served as CEO until June 2022, and replaces interim CEO Jamie Neil, who has driven a programme of significant operational improvement within CDP over the past year. Jamie steps down on 29 September 2023. Biography Sherry Madera is Chair of Future of Sustainable Data Alliance (FoSDA) a global organization focused on supporting data requirements to drive success in sustainable finance.  As SVP Public Policy for Mastercard, Ms Madera led a team focused on identifying priority trends and issues important to governments, industry and regulators. Enterprise Singapore and CDP launch new environmental disclosure programme for Singapore enterprises

SINGAPORE, July 6, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) and CDP, a global non-profit organisation specialising in environmental disclosure for companies, has launched a new environmental disclosure programme for Singapore enterprises, as part of EnterpriseSG's Enterprise Sustainability Programme[1]. Under this new environmental disclosure programme, Singapore enterprises will have access to a structured framework that will guide them in disclosing their environmental data and performance, via CDP's questionnaire approach. Participating companies will also receive benchmarking data on key performance indicators measured against industry peers, to help them better understand their performance, uncover risks and opportunities and integrate environmental considerations into their business strategy. CDP will also provide one-to-one advisory services for selected companies to improve their disclosures and sustainability efforts. To encourage environmental disclosure amongst companies in Singapore, EnterpriseSG will support 70% of the programme fees for the first year of disclosure. Christine Wong, Executive Director of Circular Economy and Sustainability, Enterprise Singapore said: "As the global push for climate action intensifies, companies are increasingly facing requirements by investors, financiers and large corporate clients to disclose their environmental impact. This programme provides a step-by-step approach for companies to disclose their environmental data and ascertain the environmental footprint of their economic activities. We encourage Singapore enterprises to tap this programme to help them uncover business risks and opportunities, and enable them to take steps to address their environmental impact and enhance their competitiveness." John Leung, Director of Southeast Asia & Oceania, CDP, said: "We are delighted to be in partnership with the Enterprise Singapore on this pivotal initiative to drive more disclosure and action in Singapore. As the world's leading global environmental disclosure system, CDP is committed to supporting SMEs. "Through this partnership, we hope that we can empower SMEs to take climate action by first disclosing their environmental impact, and in turn, to help them build business resilience to climate change, accelerate business growth, gain competitive advantage, and keep up with supply chain demands. This will help them align with shifting governmental policy and consumer expectations while allowing a more active role in the transition to a low carbon economy."
