RESTON, Va., Oct. 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Graduate management education (GME) programs worldwide saw a 7 percent rise in applications in 2025, building on last year's record-breaking growth, according to the latest annual Application Trends Survey of global business education trends released today by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), a nonprofit association of leading business schools worldwide.

This year's gains, though significant, were not evenly distributed, with clear shifts emerging across program types, delivery formats, and geographies. Notably, major GME hubs such as Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom experienced application contractions as their tighter visa policies and labor market uncertainty discouraged international applicants. While U.S. programs recorded a slight one-point decrease, in Canada and the U.K., the drop was pronounced, with 84 percent of Canadian programs and two-thirds of U.K. programs reporting fewer applications. By contrast, applications to programs in Asia and Europe (outside of the U.K.) surged ahead, attracting applicants redirected from other regions. International application growth was particularly strong in India (up 26%) and East and Southeast Asia (up 42%), highlighting the success of their business schools in marketing strategies and reputational gains.

Other Key Findings to Note Include:

• Shifting program demand: Growth in applications to GME programs was concentrated in full-time, in-person formats—especially full-time, two-year MBA and business master's programs in accounting, finance, and marketing. On the flip side, Master of Business Analytics programs experienced another year of weakened demand, with nearly two-thirds of these programs reporting application declines for the second year in a row.
  
  
• RTO impacting application trends: More than half of executive, online, and part-time MBA programs reported application declines, marking a sharp contrast to the growth seen in full-time, in-person MBA programs. The downturn among flexible formats reverses earlier gains and may be linked to shifting candidate preferences in the wake of widespread return-to-office (RTO) mandates.
  
  
• Business schools embracing AI: AI in the classroom is now mainstream, with only 16 percent of programs reporting no AI integration in 2025, down from 22 percent last year. More than half of schools now teach AI as a tool for decision-making, business strategy, and societal impact, often through hands-on experiences.
  
  
• Sustainability becoming a differentiator: Three in four programs now offer opportunities to study sustainability—most commonly through MBA curricula. Candidate demand is clear—63 percent of prospective students responding to GMAC's 2025 survey say sustainability is important to their studies. Regionally, Asian programs outside of Greater China and India are the most likely to require studying the subject and those in the United States the least likely.
  
  
• Business master's applications near parity: Globally, women continue to make up just over 40% of GME applicants, a level that has held for more than a decade. In 2025, although the median share of women applicants rose only one point, women applied to MBA programs at a faster rate than men and their representation among business master's applicants held steady just below parity.

RESTON, Va., July 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Even as employers report ongoing influence of inflation, recession fears, and country leaders on their hiring decisions, recent business school graduates can remain optimistic about their career prospects, buoyed by the accelerating integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across the modern business landscape. According to the latest annual survey of global corporate recruiters released today by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), problem-solving and strategic thinking remain the top skills employers desire today and tomorrow. In addition, new hires' knowledge of using AI tools has risen measurably in its current importance in the average employer's mind since last year, and it tops the list of the skills employers value the most five years from now.

"As AI becomes more integral in a company's decision-making and strategy development, employers continue to turn to business school graduates for their versatility and strategic thinking, along with growing appreciation for their ability to innovate and navigate the challenges and opportunities of technological disruption," says Joy Jones, CEO at GMAC. This year's survey was conducted with a total of 1,108 corporate recruiters and hiring managers—nearly two thirds of them with Global Fortune 500 companies—participating from organizations and staffing firms in 46 countries.

Key findings to note for business school graduates and aspirants

• Positive employer perceptions of business education: An overwhelming 99% of global employers express confidence in business schools' ability to prepare graduates for success within their organizations. Moreover, nearly two-thirds affirm that the skills gained through a graduate business degree are more critical than ever, as companies increasingly adopt emerging tech.
  
  
• The enduring and rising importance of human skills in the modern workforce: more than half of global employers cite the value of communication skills in their hiring decisions, with employers also valuing candidates' emotional intelligence and adaptability in their current and future hiring decisions.
  
  
• Growing employer confidence with increasing flexibility in work and study: 56% of global employers agree or strongly agree that the skills gained through a business degree are more important than before for businesses using remote or hybrid working arrangements; roughly the same percentage (55%) also agree or strongly agree that they value graduates of online or predominantly online and in-person programs equally.
  
  
• New "Gen Z" hires' professionalism demystified—somewhat—by employers: 61% of corporate recruiters find recent GME graduates to demonstrate the same level of professionalism—such as reliability, respectfulness, or professional appearance—as graduates from previous years. However, roughly a quarter of the more client-facing consulting and health care/pharmaceutical recruiters disagree.
  
  
• Hiring projection spotlighting popularity of generalist business degrees: 76% of global employers predict that they will hire about the same or more newly minted MBA graduates in 2025 compared to 2024. In fact, 90% of them plan to hire talent with an MBA—even more than prospective employees with bachelor's degrees or those coming directly from other organizations.

GMAC's latest global survey of business school candidates also finds increasing importance of ROI as the tech sector's lure fades.

RESTON, Va., April 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Individuals looking to enter business schools overwhelmingly say they want to learn how to think strategically and problem solve, according to the latest annual survey of global prospective students to business school released today by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). And with nearly half of prospective students reporting artificial intelligence (AI) as part of their ideal curriculum, candidates are expecting hands-on experience utilizing AI for strategy and decision-making.

"Employers have consistently informed us that they value hallmark skills like strategic thinking and problem-solving. Once again, we found that prospective students are on the same page with their future employers," says Joy Jones, CEO at GMAC. MBA reigns supreme with interest in business master's on the rise.

As more business schools launch new and increasingly specialized master's programs, candidates have taken notice. Compared to the previous year, there has been a significant jump in the share of candidates who prefer business master's degrees. Even though preference for the MBA dipped slightly, roughly half of global business candidates still consider it their top choice. A deeper dive into the shift reveals that pre-experience candidates as well as those aged 30 and over are more inclined to apply for business master's programs than before.

"For the more seasoned professionals seeking to pivot their career or college students contemplating becoming an accountant or marketeer, a relatively shorter and specialized business program could be an ideal educational path," says Martin Boehm, executive vice president and global dean of undergraduate programs at Hult International Business School and a GMAC board director.

The survey also showed that more people are expressing preference for in-person business education programs—either full-time or part-time in format—reversing a multi-year trend of growing popularity of hybrid and flexible programs since the inception of the pandemic.

Labor market uncertainty impacts ROI considerations, desired industries.

Cost remains a top barrier for candidates to get graduate business degrees no matter where they are located or how advanced they are in their career. Today's economic and employment outlook has heightened people's awareness around opportunity cost and return of their investment. In fact, ROI remains prospective students' most considered factor when researching GME, with a noticeable increase in how many survey respondents say this is among their most important aspects of choosing a business school.

The uncertainty also reflects in the industry they are looking to enter upon graduation. While consulting, financial services, and technology still top the list, there has been a small but statistically significant dip in candidate interest in the tech sector. This is likely related to a challenging year for major tech companies, where recent layoffs hit hard not just the technical engineer positions but also more business-oriented roles in marketing and talent recruitment.

Global economy and geopolitical intricacies influence study destinations.

Study destination preferences of global candidates have remained steady over the past five years, with the United States and Western Europe continuing to occupy the top spots for students intending to study abroad. At the same time, affordability and being closer to home are deciding factors among candidates who want to study in regions like Asia, the Middle East, and Africa—where rising inflation and fluctuating currency exchange rates have dominated recent headlines.

"As the global economy becomes increasingly uncertain, we're seeing candidates from around the world seeking out the value for money, unique perspectives, and hands-on experience with complex problems they can gain by studying in regions with young populations and fast-growing, dynamic markets," says Catherine Duggan, director (dean) of the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business and chair-elect of the GMAC Board.

GMAC’s annual survey of corporate recruiters indicates high confidence, predicts strong hiring

RESTON, Va., July 01, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --  Despite concerns about inflation and recession risk, employer confidence in graduate management education (GME) and its ability to prepare business school graduates to be successful in their organizations has reached new heights since the pandemic, according to an annual survey of global corporate recruiters of business graduates released today by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). This increase in confidence was seen across key industries business education caters to like consulting, finance and accounting, as well as technology. The best news for today’s business school graduates is that employers' appreciation translates into optimistic hiring projections, with the majority of global recruiters planning steady or expanding hiring in 2024. A third expected to hire more MBA graduates than last year.

Notably, employers’ renewed confidence in GME is reflected in the growing number of them who say business school graduates tend to outperform their other employees, fast-track to upper-level positions, and earn more than other employees, and the share has grown in recent years despite – or perhaps due to – the rapid rise of technologies like generative artificial intelligence (AI). With the attention AI has received, the responding employers do not necessarily believe the predicted changes have hit their workplaces just yet, with only 26 percent considering AI to be an important skill for current GME graduates to leverage in their organizations. However, when asked which skills will be most important in five years, AI ranked high across regions and industries. More importantly, employers consistently value problem-solving and strategic thinking as the top skills for GME graduates of both today and tomorrow, and these core competencies are seen as essential around the globe.

“As disruptive technologies like generative AI reshape the labor market and the skill economy expands, employers are putting a premium on strategic thinking, people leadership, and problem-solving while betting on the rising importance of tech prowess. To achieve success, future business leaders will need to harness technological advancements and possess the knowledge and experience to manage the change brought on by these evolutions,” said Joy Jones, CEO of GMAC. “This year’s Corporate Recruiters Survey affirms that graduate business programs continue to be uniquely positioned—and trusted for their ability—to develop business talent with increasingly relevant and cutting-edge skills, who are equipped to tackle new and perennial challenges with a balance of tech and human understanding.”

Confidence growth in remote working management skills does not extend to remote learning.

Employers may have grown more confident in business schools related to the changing context in which businesses and business education operate. Notably, about two-thirds of employers say the skills gained through GME are more important in today’s world of remote and hybrid working. This is almost double the share who answered a similar question in 2021 at the peak of the pandemic. The increase in valuation of GME is most pronounced in leading Fortune 100 and 500 companies, the finance and accounting and manufacturing industries, and in East and Southeast Asia and Western Europe. Understandably, organizations in these companies, industries and regions have likely undergone the most changes in remote working situations in the years following the pandemic and are more likely to rely on the skills of GME graduates to manage this disruption.

However, employers’ new appreciation for business graduates’ ability to manage flexibility in the workplace has not entirely extended to an appreciation for the skills gained in online programs. Overall, two-thirds of employers still believe in-person programs impart stronger technical skills than online programs, and nearly three quarters of global employers agree in-person programs impart stronger leadership and communication skills. But this year U.S. employers, who in past surveys have been the most skeptical of online degrees compared to other regions, are warming up to the idea that in-person degrees do not necessarily have a leg up on online programs when it comes to development of the above-mentioned skills.

Hiring projections remain optimistic despite recession fears and policy impacts.

Given the lingering uncertainty of the global economic outlook, more than half of employers—regardless of industry or region—reported major or moderate influence of inflation and recession on hiring but remain optimistic about employment opportunities for business graduates. Consulting, along with finance and accounting sectors, are projected to hire more MBA graduates while data and business analytics hiring are expected to expand the most in 2024. Regionally, planned hiring expansion is most conservative in the United States and the technology sector, whereas employers in Asia report the highest intended hiring across GME degree types. Employers in major markets in Asia, as well as Western Europe, also demonstrated significant growth in international hiring—employment of those who require additional legal documentation—compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2018.

GMAC’s annual survey reveals new shifts in the underlying expectations of applicants

RESTON, Va., Oct. 27, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Across the globe, total applications to graduate business school programs in 2023 dipped by approximately five percent. However, more programs than last year reported growth in their applications—indicating that the drop in applications was not felt evenly, according to an annual survey released today by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). GMAC, a global association representing leading business schools, published findings from the 2023 survey results to provide data and insights to better understand current trends in applications to graduate management education (GME) programs.

Specifically, the decline in applications have centered around those to more selective programs, driving a dip in total global applications while their somewhat selective counterparts reported growth in their applications. Many candidates are still interested in more traditional, competitive full-time programs, but online, hybrid, or evening options were much more likely to report application growth. Interestingly, applicants seeking out top-ranked programs may not necessarily be looking for the same flexibility as the others, but many candidates are more willing to sacrifice prestige for flexibility.

“As post-pandemic attitudes toward work continue shifting and preferences for educational offerings continue evolving, the business school community as a whole is quickly adapting,” said Joy Jones, CEO of GMAC. “From degreed programs to new certificates, concentrations, executive education, and micro-credentials, there is a wealth of options appealing to a wide spectrum of candidates in different stages of career and life. It serves as a testament to how business schools rise to the challenge to meet the needs of today’s business school aspirants who will undoubtedly benefit from graduate business education.”

Other Key Findings:

U.S. and regional trends reflect shifts in international and domestic applications.

While flexibility in delivery methods played an important role in driving the global application trends, in the United States, the international and domestic compositions of program volume turned out to be the key drivers behind the growth seen among their GME programs. After several challenging years with the domestic pipeline—especially after applications leveled off following the pandemic—more U.S. programs reported growth in domestic applications than declines in 2023. In fact, besides the increase seen in 2020 related to the pandemic, the number of U.S. programs reporting application growth reached a decade-long high in domestic applications.

While more than half of the programs in the U.S. experienced growth despite a small dip in overall applications, their counterparts in Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Islands were not as fortunate. Most European programs have faced declining applications over the past three years, with a significant drop (13 percent) in total international applications in 2023. Similarly, programs in Asia and the Pacific Islands have experienced two years of relative application declines, but with a pronounced drop (8 percent) in total domestic applications in 2023.

Applications among women continue to stagnate across degree types and regions.

Over the past five years, the share of female applicants in the U.S., Europe, Asia, the Pacific Islands, Canada and Latin America has hovered around two-fifths. Even though GMAC’s Prospective Students Survey indicates that women tend to be more interested in flexible, online, and hybrid programs, the share of women applying to online, hybrid, weekend, and evening programs is still roughly two-fifths. One silver lining lies in the share of women applicants in the executive MBA. While it is comparatively smallest at 32 percent, most of these programs saw growth in their applications from female candidates in 2023.

“It is encouraging to see more women in executive positions pursue advanced business education that could help strengthen them as leaders in the workplace,” said Ana María Zermeño Padilla, director of academic experience and operations of EGADE Business School at Tecnológico de Monterrey and a GMAC Board member. “There is still much work to be done to appeal to women, especially those earlier in their careers, to take advantage of what graduate business degrees, particularly those with online and flexible modules, could offer.”

Applications from underrepresented U.S. populations hit post-pandemic peak and top pre-pandemic levels.

Since 2014, most U.S. GME programs reported either stability or growth in their applications from underrepresented U.S. populations. Similar to broader U.S. and global trends, applications from these candidates surged alongside the pandemic until 2021 and 2022 when a majority of programs reported declines in applications as the pandemic-related increases leveled off. This year’s survey result, however, shows that 47 percent of U.S. programs reported growth in applications from underrepresented U.S. populations, rebounding by a whopping 18 percentage point from a 10-year low in 2022 and even higher than the pre-pandemic years.

“In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on race-conscious admissions, business schools are reexamining their recruitment efforts and admissions strategies to continue enrolling a student body that reflects the diversity of the country and their pool of applicants,” said Sabrina White, vice president of school and industry engagement at GMAC. “As the graduate business school community prepares for impending shifts in how U.S. programs evaluate the experiences of applicants from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds, we hope sharing the data reported by schools over the past decade can help serve as a foundation for how current efforts have – or have not – been effective.”

GMAC’s Applications Trends Survey is the largest and most widely cited survey of its kind, serving the graduate management education community for the past quarter of a century. The 2023 survey collected data on applications received by GME programs for the 2023-2024 academic year. Between June and August, 893 programs at 247 business schools worldwide provided responses. Participating programs are located in 32 countries, including 37 U.S. states and the District of Columbia, and reflect the growing diversity of global GME offerings. 年度調查顯示，由於國內需求疲軟，申請就讀商學院的國際學生數量出現大幅回升

弗吉尼亞州雷斯頓, Oct. 31, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --  根據Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC)今日發佈的一份調查報告，在匹配的課程樣本中，有關就讀商學院研究生課程的申請量較疫情期間的增速有所下降，同比下降3.4%。此前，在2020年疫情爆發初期，申請數量同比增長2.4%，並在2021年維持同一需求水平，當時學校錄得需求同比增長0.4%。然而，由於疫情對出行的影響，招生週期有所縮短，但國際申請數量卻出現了顯著的反彈，尤其是那些申請就讀美國課程的人才。大部分美國課程的國際申請量都有所增加，尤其是全日制兩年制MBA課程（佔課程總數的80%）和STEM指定課程（佔61%）。歐洲的情況也比較類似，多數MBA課程今年或者表現穩定，或者收到海外申請數量有所增加。

作為業內最大規模及引用最廣的調查，GMAC 2022申請趨勢調查於7月至9月期間開展，匯集了全球33個國家/地區264所商學院的950個課程所提交的申請數據。該調查旨在審視研究生管理教育(GME)課程需求的快速變化。2022年的調查是該項調查第24週年的年度調查，反映出受疫情影響年度可能已經結束，並提供有關疫情後市場可能如何形成的洞察。

全球商科碩士課程（包括管理碩士、金融碩士和數據分析碩士）的申請量同比增長3.2%。除會計碩士外，在美國所有類型的商科碩士課程中，錄得國際申請量增加的課程佔比都大於錄得申請量減少的課程。在申請就讀美國課程的國際學生中，申請專業學位的比例尤其高，包括供應鏈管理碩士(93%)、市場營銷碩士(76%)和數據分析碩士(61%)。

「商科碩士課程一直對國際申請者頗具吸引力。隨著疫情限制措施逐漸放鬆，人們學會與病毒共存並應對病毒，我們預計國際流動將繼續反彈，」卡耐基梅隆大學泰珀商學院院長兼金融學教授、GMAC董事會成員Isabelle Bajeux-Besnainou表示。

亞洲留住了更多人才，而加拿大卻出現申請數量大逆轉。

在疫情期間，亞洲地區的商學院能夠吸引本應外流的申請者。雖然作出回復的亞洲課程今年申請總量增長和下降的比例大致相當，但那些錄得增長或保持穩定的課程在國內申請(60%)和國際申請(63%)課程都出現增長或保持穩定。這一趨勢與GMAC今年早些時候發佈的有關新生的調查相一致。調查數據顯示，來自亞洲一些傳統流動性地區的考生可能會越來越多地選擇在國內學習。

加拿大的課程在國內申請或國際申請方面都出現大幅下跌。在對前兩年調查作出回復的加拿大課程中，總申請量同比下降23%，75%的課程錄得國內申請下降，68%錄得國際申請下降。這一趨勢逆轉了加拿大學校自2017年（當時，美國的簽證供應減少）以來取得的積極成果。

調查發現，北美的全日制工商管理碩士畢業生從加薪中受益最大，而亞太區的畢業生對學位整體價值的評分增幅最大

維珍尼亞州雷斯頓, Sept. 15, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- 根據研究生入學管理委員會 (Graduate Management Admission Council, GMAC) 今天發佈的一份調查報告，儘管市場擔心經濟衰退迫在眉睫，但 2022 年商學院畢業生在畢業時就業的人數為 86%，高於 2021 年的 80%。促成有利趨勢的是在亞太區和歐洲學習的畢業生區域結果。在亞太區商學院的畢業生中，今年有 91% 的受訪者表示在畢業時已就業，而 2021 年這比例為 78%。同樣，在歐洲的畢業生中，90% 的受訪者表示他們於今年就業，而去年這比例為 75%。

Jones 將接替 Sangeet Chowfla 成為代表全球領先的研究生商學院協會的負責人

全球調查確認疫情促使轉向工商管理碩士和商業碩士學位

維珍尼亞州里斯頓, April 19, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- 研究生入學管理委員會 (The Graduate Management Admission Council, GMAC) 是全球領先的研究生商學院協會，今天發佈其 GMAC 準學生調查 – 2022 年總結報告，旨在探討 2019 冠狀病毒病疫情期間申請者的偏好變化。該報告基於全球 6,500 多名對 2021 年研究生商業教育表示感興趣的人士之調查結果。在現時充滿活力的經濟環境下，就業市場活躍，通貨膨脹不斷上升，費用仍然是主要擔憂因素，但來自全球的申請者繼續將研究生管理教育視為一種行之有效的途徑，幫助他們在專業上取得進步和找準自己的定位，這一點與疫情前一致。全球來看，五分四的申請者表示，商科研究生學位可以讓他們在工作中脫穎而出。同樣，全日制工商管理碩士課程仍然是最受歡迎的課程選擇，四分一的申請者較喜歡兩年全日制，另外五分一的申請者較喜歡一年全日制。

GMAC 總裁兼行政總裁 Sangeet Chowfla 表示：「雖然疫情改變了管理研究生教育格局的各個範疇，但對管理研究生教育價值的基本看法，特別是工商管理碩士，繼續保持強勁。雖然申請者的首選學習目的地，授課形式、職業道路和對入學考試政策的看法繼續變化，但如果有人擔心疫情及其影響會削弱商學院有志者對入學考試價值看法的話，GMAC 準學生調查的最新結果應該有助釋除他們的憂慮。」

其他重要結果：

越來越多申請者更願意在家附近的地方學習，而美國和歐洲地區中國際申請者的競爭更加激烈

與疫情前相比，更多來自傳統流動市場的申請者選擇在家附近學習。例如，在中亞和南亞申請者中，願意出國留學的比例在 2019 年至 2021 年間從 89% 下降至 73%。在東亞和東南亞申請者中，2020 年至 2021 年間，出國留學的偏好以從 92% 下降至 87%，這可能表明由於疫情引發的旅遊限制，出國留學因而受到限制。

在 2021 年，國際申請者（其首選學習目的地與其國籍國不同的申請者）表示美國和西歐是他們首選目的地（分別為 39%），兩者比例幾乎相同。特別是在國際工商管理碩士申請者中，美國是一半 (50%) 申請者的首選目的地，在 2019 年至 2021 年間遙遙領先第二名的西歐 (28%)。與此同時，西歐仍然是超過一半的國際商科碩士申請者的首選目的地。

對全面網上教育的價值信念仍然低，而對混合授課形式的接受程度卻增加

與網上學習相比，申請者認為面授商學院體驗的價值更高，而更喜歡全面網上課程的受訪申請者的比例保持不變。在 2021 年接受調查的全球準學生中，大多數人不同意網上學位課程提供與校園課程相同的價值 (73%)。近五分四的受訪者不同意社交機會相同，三分二受訪者不同意職業機會相同。然而，這些負面觀點在 2020 年至 2021 年間略有減弱。

與此同時，對混合模式的偏好在申請者類型中顯著上升，尤其是更喜歡行政人員、兼職和靈活工商管理碩士課程的受訪者（44%，2019 年為 30%），以及想要全日制學習以獲得商業碩士學位（20%，2019 年為 13%）或工商管理碩士（13%，2019 年為 7%）的受訪者。在全球，2021 年接受調查的申請者中有 20% 更喜歡混合授課，高於疫情前的 14%。美國代表性不足的少數族裔申請者（28%）也表達了對混合課程的興趣，比疫情前的水平顯著增加。

諮詢繼續成為準學生的首要興趣，但技術領域的興趣指數繼續上升

在「辭職潮」震動了就業市場的美國申請者中，42% 的受訪者認為自己是「轉行者」，他們的目標是透過攻讀商業學位來轉行或工作職能，遠高於全球的 32% 水平。與疫情前一樣，諮詢仍然是男性和女性申請者渴望的頂級行業和工作職能。但受訪者對科技行業的興趣越來越濃厚，尤其是轉行者（50%）和非商科本科專業（49%）。此外，在 2019 年至 2021 年期間，女性對科技的興趣也有所增加（由 29% 升至 34%）。

GMAC 產品總監兼評估總經理 Joy Jones 表示：「由於大家在疫情後對工作的看法不同，許多人對他們可以追求的各種可能職業道路變得更加開放。令人鼓舞的是，越來越多女性正在攻讀商業學位，以此作為在科技行業建立職業生涯的一種方式。研究生商業教育的需求仍大，因它為廣泛的行業和工作職能打開大門，包括尋求進入商學院的傳統申請者較少考慮或從未考慮的領域。」

可選考試和豁免政策導致有意想不到的結果

在全球，大多數申請者同意入學考試提高了商學院招生的公平和透明程度。大多數人還同意，考試提高了學校評估申請者的可靠性，並證明他們重視所錄取學生的質素。調查回覆的一個明顯趨勢是，國際考生特別贊成入學考試。大約一半的受訪者表示，學校的入學考試是課程質素的指標，亦是考慮申請該學校的重要標準。有超過兩倍的國際考生同意（多於不同意），入學考試是決定錄取學生的有效方法。此外，大約五分二的準學生同意，考試豁免的標準很複雜，不適用於大部分申請者，大約三分一的受訪者表示，不成比例的豁免有利對研究生商業學位課程準備不足的申請者。

GMAC 市場推廣總監 Maite Salazar 表示：「數據顯示，由於考試豁免和可選政策的複雜程度，以及對透明和公平降低的看法，準申請者對考試豁免和可選政策的看法參差不齊。這種認知趨勢在國際學生中尤為明顯。可選考試和豁免政策的意外後果可能是，可能會對保證課程學生質素的承諾產生不利影響。」
